Empowering Young Women: 15 LSP Girls Successfully Complete Institutional Assessment for Cookery NCII and Food and Beverage Services NCII

FundLife’s ongoing commitment to empowering young, vulnerable girls continues to shine as ten remarkable students from Scandinavian National High School (SNHS) have successfully completed their Institutional Assessment for Cookery National Certificate II (NCII). This milestone, achieved on November 6, 2024, marks a significant step in their journey toward obtaining the National Certificate II in Cookery through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

These young women, participants in the Life Skills Plus (LSP) project under FundLife's Girls Got This initiative, have shown resilience and determination. Although they received training in Cookery last year, unforeseen challenges prevented them from taking the final assessment at that time. Now, with support from FundLife, they are back on track, preparing to complete their formal assessment with TESDA.

The Institutional Assessment took place in the Food Laboratory of Scandinavian National High School, where the girls demonstrated their culinary skills, honed through rigorous training and mentorship. The assessment, designed to last 6-8 hours, was efficiently conducted in just half of the expected duration, showcasing the girls' competence and readiness.

In addition to the Cookery NCII assessment, FundLife also supported a group of five students from SNHS who undertook the Institutional Assessment for Food and Beverage Services NCII on November 7, 2024, just a day after the Cookery assessment. Both groups are now set to take their final assessments on November 15, 2024, at Arc Angelus Civitas School Inc., a TESDA-accredited school, in San Jose, Tacloban City.

The program also received vital on-ground support from Ms. Armie Joy Fumar, the LSP focal and adviser at Scandinavian National High School, who played a crucial role in guiding and preparing the girls for their assessment.

As the final assessment on November 15 approaches, the entire FundLife team stands proudly behind these ten girls. Their determination and success are not just personal triumphs but a testament to what collective support, resilience, and dedication can achieve. These girls’ stories inspire hope and embody the powerful change that can occur when we invest in young women’s futures. FundLife continues to fulfill its mission of equipping vulnerable adolescent girls with life skills and opportunities for dignified employment.
