GGT through the Manny Pacquiao Foundation (MPF) joins the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child in Cebu City through the conduct of Mentorship Sessions and distribution of safe-at-home packs and learning kits that will keep the young girls safe and in learning.
The International Day of the Girl Child celebration highlights the diverse digital realities of the young girls amidst the pandemic. It is a call to action to address the gender digital divide in connectivity, devices and use, and skills and jobs.
FL through GGT, provides equitable access to education and employment opportunities to the highly vulnerable young girls by immersing them in Mentorship Programs and by providing them educational support materials.
For over 1 year and 8 months of educational lockdown in the Philippines, MPF is one of the instrumentalities that fights the educational catastrophe and protection emergencies with young girls being the most affected.
More than one hundred girls from Liloan, Cebu Province, and Guizo, Mandaue City under the GGT Mentorship Program participated in the session focusing on Child’s Rights and Self-Awareness.
Further, GGT invited some famous vloggers from Cebu City to inspire the young girls to take up space and to cement themselves in the digital society. The vloggers highlighted the different responsibilities when navigating the digital world.
The various activities conducted by FL and GGT as part of the celebration, aims to amplify the voices of the girls as technologists for freedom of expression and joy with boundless potential.
FL and GGT seek to intensify the diversity of these tech trailblazers while simultaneously widening the pathways so that this generation of girls – regardless of race, gender, language, ability, economic status and geographic origin – lives their full potential.
We believe all girls have potential, the world just needs to #BelieveInHer.
